How to make a Rigid Wrap Mask
- Secure hair away from face. A shower cap may be used. Apply a liberal coating - not too thick - of petroleum jelly to the face. Apply extra around hair line, eye lids and eye lashes.
- Cut Rigid Wrap into six (6) strips of 16mm (5/8") widths and 63-76mm (21/2" to 3" lengths. Dip each strip into warm water, let excess water drain off, and make an "X" across the bridge of the nose.
- Cut strips 50mm (2") wide by 150mm (6") long. Dip into water and outline face, overlapping strips. Work around hair and chin for a full mask. For a half-mask bring strips across cheek bones and over tip of nose. Smooth plaster as you go. It is easier to leave the yes open, smooth these edges while still pliable. Continue adding strips, filling in the mask shape until five (5) layers have been built up. Strips for the sixth (final) layer should be cut longer and wider for a smooth surface.
- The mask becomes rigid quickly. Leave on face until set in 15-20 minutes.
- For a smoother surface, paint mask with an undiluted PVA glue or paint with acrylic paints. Add glitter, beads, lace, ribbons, feathers, sequins or flowers.
